In the run up to this year’s Meffys we are profiling the finalists in the different categories.  Today its the turn of the Sector Award for Enterprise. This new award recognises both public and private enterprises across all industries that are transforming their core business strategy by introducing and deploying innovative mobile solutions, whether via an app, service or product, to help work smarter and more effectively.

appinio conducts market and opinion research via a mobile app.  Businesses create and define surveys quickly and easily, defining a specific target group via the appinio online platform. Results can be shown in real-time with live tracking tools. Costs are controlled due to a scalable infrastructure and the self-administration of mobile users and businesses. 

Users answer questions on-the-go via the mobile app whenever and wherever they want and are rewarded with vouchers that they can cash in or donate to charity.  Instead of playing Candy Crush or checking facebook, users invest only five minutes of their spare time in order to do something good. 

Developed in-house, MyZone is an app for Barclays’ colleagues, giving employees access a full range of useful workplace tools and information using their personal iOS and Android devices.

With over 66 per cent of Barclays’ 15,000 UK Branch employees now using MyZone, the MyZone app has significantly improved colleague engagement and realised tangible commercial and environmental benefits including a rise in colleague engagement in the Retail branch network, the elimination of printed payslips across the UK, huge cost savings in telephony costs incurred across the retail banking business.

ClearSlide Mail is a mobile mail application for salespeople that consolidates multiple mailboxes and calendars into one centralised location.  ClearSlide Mail helps salespeople overcome common barriers in their workflow by enabling timely email communications with customers, making it easy to create, track, and send emails from their phone.

It supports most email services — including Exchange, Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud, and AOL so that users can create, open, forward, and download attachments (compatible with PDF, XLS, DOC, JPEG files, and more) with a simple swipe, or insert a PowerPoint presentation directly from a ClearSlide Account as a trackable link. In addition, the app offers seamless integration with Evernote, Dropbox, and Box, and allows users to sync emails directly back to Salesforce.com and other CRM solutions.   

Backstage is a mobile application that integrates sales reports, ticketing services, and entrance control tools together in one application.   Ingresse is an event platform that delivers to event producers one centralised location to manage sales through all channels. 

Through Backstage, event producers can track their sales through their many different sales channels. The Ingresse API aggregates all sales information in one place, giving to event producers information about every transaction, in detail, at any time. With Backstage, it is possible to produce tickets by printing them through a bluetooth printer, or even better, by sending them via email directly to costumers, allowing them to open the tickets within the Ingresse app.  Backstage entrance control services allow producers to use an offline tool, completely integrated with the valid tickets stock, to validate their customer’s tickets using the integrated QR Code reader or by searching for a name on the list.

Taja is a mobile first retail application that focuses on people who do not already have an inventory system to manage what they sell.  We noticed that in Nigeria about 60 per cent of the of the owners of shopping and retail business are not in their business locations 80 per cent of the time. These segment ranging from people with regular 9-5s to those who own more than one business. Taja allows them monitor their business from their mobile without getting there.
